Designed with casual living in mind, one Montana timber home serves as the perfect gathering spot for friends and family.
Ask any vacation home own-er what drew them to their dream destination and you’ll get a different answer each and every time. For some, it’s the warm sand and peaceful sounds of the ocean. For others, it may be the serenity of the forest or a jaw-dropping mountain view. For most, it has something to do with the call of the great outdoors. And that includes Bill and Beth Morrison.
“We chose West Yellowstone because it’s a bit of a smaller town and so we could just go up there and enjoy Yellowstone Park,” says Bill. “Plus, it’s basically a fly fishing mecca. That’s what really sealed the deal for me.”
Residents of Fort Collins, Colorado, the Morrisons were also drawn to West Yellowstone’s close proximity to their primary home and liked that, by building relatively close, they’d get to be a major part of their custom-home journey. The location, it turns out, also led them to their architect, Judd Dickey of Mountain Timber Design in nearby Golden, Colorado. “After finding my website online, Bill called me up and we talked about his ideas for the house and we talked a lot about fly fishing,” says Dickey.
