Fujinon XF 23 f/1.4 R LM WR Exceeded 'Xpectations

AImost nine years after the launch of the widely successful, much-loved XF 23mm f/1.4 R, Fujifilm has unveiled its successor, the Fujinon XF 23 f/1.4 RLM WR. This new iteration comes with further improvements in terms of both construction and optical performance.

Features

The 23mm on the Fuji APS-C sensor gives a field of view similar to a 35mm lens, making it a must-have lens in your arsenal. Constructed using 15 elements in 10 groups, including two aspherical and three ED elements, the lens comes with a redesigned, fast and near-silent linear motor. Moreover, the weather-sealed body repels dust and moisture and can perform in environments down to -10°C. The close focusing distance has also been reduced from 28cm to 19cm. It features a nine round-bladed diaphragm, a 0.2x maximum magnification ratio and a 58mm filter thread. It comes with a supplied hood.

Handling

The weight and length of the lens have increased from 300g and 72 x 63 m to 375g and 67mm x 77.8mm because it features a more complicated optical construction than the original XF 23mm. On the X-T4, the lens is quite lightweight and balanced, even with the hood on, however, the hood makes the lens appear longer than it is.
