Motorola Moto G8 Plus - Budget-Friendly, But Disenchanting

Since its introduction, Motorola’s G series has catered to the budget smartphone section. The Moto G8 Plus is no different, settling in very nicely in the sub Rs. 15,000 segment. However, when you have contenders like the Redmi Note 8 Pro, also falling in the same price bracket, then what do you do to stay ahead? Promoted with the #dontmissathing, has the Moto G8 Plus succeeded? Let’s find out.

Design, Cameras, and Features...

The Moto G8 Plus features a glass polymer body with a water repellent design. However, there is no official IP rating provided by the company. The phone sports a 6.3-inch FHD+ U notch display, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor.

On the camera front… At first glance, the G8 Plus gives you the idea that it has four cameras on its rear, all stacked up vertically. But, there are only three cameras—a 48MP f/2 main camera; a 5MP f/2.2 camera for depth; a 16MP f/2.2 action camera with 117° ultra-wide field of view. The 16MP action camera, however, can only be used for videos and not stills. The main 48MP camera features PDAF, digital zoom (up to 8x), and EIS. Other features include the Portrait mode, Cutout (creates cutouts of only people in the frame, to which you can add a background), Night Vision mode, Cinemagraph, Panorama, HDR, Live Filter, Manual mode (RAW+JPEG) and Timelapse, among others.
