Mikey Johnston made another first-team appearance at the weekend in the game against Kilmarnock
MIKEY Johnston has been making waves in the Development Squad with consistently impressive performances and goals. And his exploits have not gone unnoticed by Brendan Rodgers who named the young winger in the starting XI for the weekend’s game against Kilmarnock at Paradise.
Bolstered by the assurance that his hard work will be rewarded by first-team opportunities, Johnston’s motivation to give everything day-in-day-out is now at an all-time high.
The game against the Rugby Park side on Saturday was nestled amongst a packed schedule for Celtic - their fifth game in a fortnight. As a result, the manager made several changes to the first-team as part of a rotation in the squad. One of the names on the team-sheet was 18-year-old Johnston.
His debut came towards the end of last season, one month after his 18th birthday, in a 4-1 win against St Johnstone at Paradise, and in an exclusive interview with the Celtic View, Johnston reflected on his second start in the first-team.
