Manager, Michael O’Halloran explains that Celtic are aiming to make it five-in-a-row in the Glasgow Cup

LIFTING the Glasgow Cup for the fifth successive time will be the immediate prize on offer for Celtic Under-17s on Monday night, but manager, Michael O’Halloran, will be keeping his players focused on their long-term development goals ahead of the showpiece at Firhill.

For many of the Hoops youngsters, going head-to-head with their Rangers counterparts for the historic silverware will be the biggest match of their fledging careers.

O’Halloran, however, will be stressing to his charges to enjoy the occasion and to use it as another stepping stone to hopefully reaching the Celtic first-team.

“A bit of emphasis might be put on the fact we’re going for five-in-a-row and that brings pressure and it might give the opposition that wee incentive to stop that,” he told the Celtic View in an exclusive interview. “But the main thing is about the about the players’ development.

“First and foremost, what we’re looking for is a good performance. We want them to go and enjoy the occasion and hopefully through that, they’ll put on a good performance.

“We want them to perform as Celtic players, which is more important than anything, and hopefully that’ll be the thing that will carry them into the first team at some stage.
