A Word With The Assistant Manager

'Our Identity As A Team Is To Create, Score And Be The Attacking Team'

THE international break hit pause on the Scottish Premiership last week, but thankfully Celtic fans had plenty of positives to dwell on during the time off after watching the Hoops put on their best performance of the season so far in a thrilling 6-0 win over St Johnstone.

With the squad now reunited, the Champions will be looking to carry the momentum of that result into this weekend’s home game against second-place Hibernian.

The win against Tommy Wright’s side was an important one, but it gave Celtic more than just three points. It was a further sign that the Scottish champions are beginning to find the rhythm which has yielded such unprecedented success over the past two years.

After booking their place in the League Cup semi-final with a 1-0 win over St Johnstone, Celtic then defeated Aberdeen at Paradise. That 1-0 win over the Dons was Celtic’s seventh clean sheet in their previous eight games. With the defensive stability in place, Brendan Rodgers was looking for more in Celtic’s attacking play and the players duly delivered at McDiarmid Park.

Assistant manager Chris Davies praised the team’s performance and said the performance would be important for the upcoming games.

“It was one of the best performances so far this season,” he said in an exclusive interview with the Celtic View. “Our identity as a team is to create, score and be the attacking team. We showed a lot of those qualities in that game, probably more so than in any other games this season, not only because of the goals but some of our other play as well.

“They were clinical, high-quality goals, which is important. It was a really good day for us on many fronts. Everything clicked in the game and we had that rhythm and flow to our attacking play.
