Natalie Ross is back in the running and feeling good about the team’s chances this season

Positive Energy

DAVID Haley’s side have got their season off to a strong start with five wins and two draws in their opening seven games.

The next three fixtures could determine their season however. The Women’s Hoops take on the league’s most dominant sides in Glasgow City and Hibernian, with a League Cup semi-final sandwiched between the two.

Thankfully one of the squad’s most experienced players in Natalie Ross has returned from injury and is poised to play her part in hopefully helping Celtic clinch some silverware.

How’s the season been for you so far?

I missed pre-season with a back injury. We did a training session at Soccer World and the surface is really hard there so I ended up tweaking my back. That was right at the start of pre-season so I missed about four or five weeks of pre-season. It’s a really frustrating time to get injured because it’s harder to get into it now with all the other girls being that wee bit fitter and sharper. I’ve been involved in a few games now so I’m not far off 100 percent now. My first game back was against Forfar in the league and I came on for the last 10 minutes. I then played 80 minutes against Hamilton in the cup which we won 3-0 so we’re through to the semi-final now. There’s been a couple of weeks’ break which is a bit unfortunate for me because I wanted to keep the momentum going. I’ve been training throughout, though, so I’m slowly getting there.

What’s your preferred position?

I’m an attacking central-midfielder. I’m working on playing with Josephine Giard who plays up front. She’s not long arrived and I’m obviously just back from injury so it takes some time to gel. There’s quite a few new players who have arrived so we’re still getting used to playing with each other.
