The Last Word With Paul Cuddihy
ON what was a very enjoyable Saturday afternoon at Celtic Park, one milestone might have been lost amidst the flurry of goals and fantastic football on show … Kieran Tierney made his 150th competitive appearance for Celtic.
That is a very impressive statistic for a player who is still only 21, and among those 150 games, it’s hard to pick out too many when he hasn’t been in the running for the Man of the Match award, such is the consistency of his performances.
He is, of course, the embodiment of that famous Tommy Burns quote as ‘just a supporter who got lucky’, and it is why he’s held in such high regard by his fellow Celtic fans.
Kieran is one of 18 people featured in a new book published by the club, This Is How It Feels To Be Celtic, which is out at the start of November.
Having conducted many of the interviews for the book, and been involved in its editing, I can tell you that each individual story is well worth reading.
Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor are the two current Celts included, and both of them have worked so hard to get to the level they are at, while remaining humble and never forgetting their roots. They are an example to every player coming through our Academy.
