At The Oberoi Sukhvilas Resort & Spa, New Chandigarh, with her daughter, fitness and wellness guru Deanne Panday finds that healing comes in different ways
It might sound ironic that someone whose entire career is built on wellness needs a break from work for precisely that, but that’s the truth of it. For the last several months, all my time had been devoted to my work: existing commitments plus a new start-up. That, coupled with the daily chores that go into running a house and taking care of a family, meant that I was physically and mentally exhausted. I love what I do, but I needed a break.
The other thing that had been bothering me lately was the fact that I’d not been able to spend enough time with my daughter, Alanna. She’d been away for four years studying, and between her classes, assignments, extra-curriculars and new adult life, and my work, I’d barely had time to really engage with her.
So a spacation seemed like the perfect solution. I was looking forward to bonding with my grown-up (but not too grown-up for a cuddle) daughter, discussing her plans, doing silly things like shooting boomerangs, talking about everything and laughing till our stomachs hurt about things only we would understand.
