Aneesha Dalal and Nirali Malji started Cupcakes and Closet (CAC) on a whim. Thiswas back in 2011 when Aneesha was working with a consultancy firm and Nirali was simultaneously studying law and contributing to her family business. They curated a bunch of their favourite outfits and uploaded them on Facebook. Next thing you know, they were all sold out! Starting their own business was the next logical step. Cut to 2016, not only have they managed to establish an e-store (in 2014), but they’ve also tapped into the power of Instagram to (majorly) boost their biz and reach out to a wider audience. “Our follower count increases by 100 every day,” Aneesha reveals.

So, they flew to LA to set up a supply chain and subsequently got on to social media so everybody could have a look at their offerings. “Creating a buzz on Instagram pre-launch really helped amass a decent audience. But allowing people to place orders through the app has been the real game changer,” Jankee explains. And Instagram is sunnies, the two brands offer everything your favourite high-street brand would, but at your doorstep, and at competitive prices.
