Pay Back to Society Group (PBSG) mission aims to recruit more local youths from Arunachal Pradesh in the forces

The Frontier state–Arunachal Pradesh with its long international borders has a huge Army presence and the bonhomie shared between the Army and the civilian population is exemplary since the very beginning, sporadic incidents notwithstanding. Locals are also a patriotic lot and have over the passage of time assimilated many ways of the ‘mainland’ into their way of life. Jo-Hin is one such word which is a form of greeting commonly used among the masses in rural areas. It won’t take one long to realize that it is the local version of ‘Jai Hind’. People residing in the inaccessible border areas are true sentinels as they safeguard Indian territory and are also quick to report unusual activities.

Over the recent years, there has been effort and interest from the State government including the defence establishment to recruit more local youths in the forces, keeping in mind their robust physique and their adaptation to the challenging terrain.
