As a Veritable Menagrie takes over our summertime vibe. We meet the three ultimate purveyors of cool talking about their latest Design collaboration Magnum X The Label Life.
If we were the number ‘3’, we’d be throwing ourselves a little pity party. It’s amazing how being just one numeral down the scale gets you so much more excitement: two to tango, two peas in a pod, two’s company…
Three, on the other end, gets the wrong end of the stick: three’s a crowd, triple whammy, trouble comes in threes…
But that one sunny morning, when the sun decided to shine rather than scorch, and we turned the lens on our covergirls, it was amply clear that three’s a charm.
There are at least three fantastic things that have come out of the pairing of the signature lifestyle brand these ladies curate – The Label Life, an e-commerce brand that we find ourselves incessantly going back to – with luxury ice-cream brand Magnum: an intensely shoppable collection inspired by Magnum’s latest campaign that prods you to unleash your wild side, and definitive proof that fashion’s recent maximalist tendencies find immense strength in spots and stripes. Oh, and that there were dozens of ultra-decadent chocolate truffle ice-cream bars doing the rounds at our shoot, with average per capita consumption being 2.5. Hey, it’s hot out there, okay?
In a way, the Magnum x The Label Life collaboration is quite a synecdoche for the ladies – Malaika Arora Khan, Bipasha Basu, and Sussanne Khan – themselves, who curate clothing, accessories and home décor respectively for The Label Life. The women have dealt with their multi-faceted careers with fierceness topped with a don’t-mess-with-me spirit; they’re resilient women with strong POVs; and, as we realise when we talk to them, their tucked-away wild side emerges ever so often.
