Makeup is my greatest passion and my eyes and ears are always wide open, tuning in for the latest buzz. And then I came across Glam X Cosmetics on Instagram (@glamxcosmetics) and was super-excited to discover that it’s home-grown! The inspiring woman behind this beauty brand is Yuri Ha, one who loves all things beauty, especially makeup. Korean by birth but raised here in Malaysia from the age of four, Yuri shares her story behind creating Glam X Cosmetics.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE YOUR OWN MAKEUP BRAND?
“My mum is a businesswoman, so growing up she taught me a little bit about money, mainly about creating or getting into something of my own. Fast-forward I went offto college in the United States. I was there for about a year and my roommate ordered an eye shadow palette by Morphe. I checked Morphe out on Instagram; it had became a cult beauty brand at the time, which everyone loved. Then when I tested out the palette, I was like, ‘oh my God this is amazing’. I needed to get one myself so I ordered it. It was more expensive back then and this was within the States. So I thought to myself ‘the palette and product is great but the price is a little high’ and that was when I thought it would really do well here. So I dropped out of school as a freshman and came back here. Whatever money I got from my tuition fee that was refunded I put as capital for Glam X Cosmetics.”
