Apple has always been known for its high prices, but it still raised a few eyebrows when it unveiled the over-ear AirPods Max at the end of last year, priced at a jaw-dropping £550. However, the company also owns the popular Beats brand too, and seems to be quietly positioning it as a more affordable alternative to its own AirPod range. The new Studio Buds provide an attractive, compact design with noise-cancelling features at a relatively competitive price.
Available in black, white or red, they weigh just 5g each and house a custom 8.2mm driver, along with three microphones that handle active noise cancellation, a transparency mode so you can hear background noise when you need to and also calls on your smartphone. There are three sizes of ear-tips bundled.
