It must be Christmas.
Chris Young has had a whirl wind of a year making new tracks, touring and receiving nominations. The events of this year haven’t slowed the country star down though. The favourite among many country fans, he has taken 2016 to an even higher level and managed to find the time to produce his first Christmas album IT MUST BE CHRISTMAS.
He already has five studio albums under his belt, including his most recent album IM COMIN’ OVER, which included two back to back number one hits; Thinking Of You which he duets with Cassidy Pope and Sober Saturday Night featuring Vince Gill. Young knew that a festive album was on the cards for quite some time but he wanted to create something that he would be proud of and that would be perfect for his listeners to share with their loved ones during such a special time of the year. Like many of us, Young is a big fan of the festive season and family and friends play a big part in that. I wanted to find out what set the ball rolling and made him decide that now was the right time to produce an album like this. “I think it was a couple of things, one I’d wrote a couple of original Christmas songs that I finally liked, it’s actually a lot harder than you would think, I’ve never really written an original Christmas song before [until now] but I was like ‘this is awesome’. There was that and also just timing, it made sense to do it here [in Minnesota]. It was a little harder to do with all of the travel that we’ve had in this country over the summer, that was a really busy time, but having the opportunity to make this record and putting it out this year just kind of just clicked into place and obviously it is a record I’m really proud of”.
