Under New Management
I have to admit, given my previous experiences with Eastern European kits, that I didn’t have high hopes when I received this new ICM kit. Although the body consists of multiple parts, there were no fit problems during the construction. So I need to apologise and give my thanks to ICM for designing such a wonderful kit! This is a top-class kit and deserves every plaudit. Bravo ICM! I strongly recommend it to anyone interested in French armour, especially for its accuracy and its trouble-free construction.
Although there were previously versions of the Panhard 178 in both plastic and resin by Al-by and Dragon, in 2015 ICM released a brand new Panhard 178 AMD-35 (WWII French Armoured Vehicle) (ref. 35373). ICM continued the line by releasing the German Version (ref. 35374) and the Command Version (ref. 35374). As the popularity of the kit became clear, both Revell and Tamiya reboxed the kit and released it under their label. Finally, in 2018 ICM added the railroad version and released four versions (French, German, Command and Railroad versions) by adding figure sets (refs. 35376, 35377, 35381, 35382). I tackled the German version (ref. 35374). The German army captured a large amount of armoured vehicles from the French army, giving them the designation Panzerspähwagen P204 (f ) which may be translated as ‘armoured reconnaissance vehicle’, fin brackets standing for French.
