A Season Of Sentiment

When Amy and Chuck Wood built their dream home in Pass Christian in the early 1990s, their ideal location was a simple choice. Adjacent to Chuck’s childhood home, the property proved to be a quintessential spot near the beach yet at a high elevation, while also being adjacent to family and friends. They selected builder Carl Heitzman to create the Acadian-style home that features rambling front and rear porches. The couple raised their two sons in the home and only recently renovated the main living areas with the help of Marcia Artigues of Bay St. Louis. The house now features a more open floorplan with a neutral and coastal color palette. They also added a large screened porch and outdoor kitchen. These updates created the groundwork for a welcoming home with classic Southern style, the house especially sparkles during the holidays.

Amy’s love for the Christmas season and her fondness of sentimental design choices are the results of her childhood in Carthage. Shortly after Thanksgiving dinner concluded each year, her grandmother would encourage her to decorate the family Christmas tree with an assortment of ornaments and angels. Amy performed this tradition for her grandmother for over 40 years. Now in her home, she features an angel tree laden with glistening cherubs and other beloved pieces passed down from her mother and her grandmother.
