“I didn’t want to be one of those women who breastfeeds her toddler. And yet, that’s exactly what I became: mum to a walking, talking human being who dives into my shirt in public looking for a drink. A bit like a short, smooth faced With nail: ‘I demand to have some boobs!’.

“My first son had taken to breastfeeding immediately and, after a couple of weeks of getting used to it, I had no problems and he weaned himself at 11 months. One night, after his bath and books, he just decided he didn’t want a feed. And that was that. So when boy number two came along, I had no reason to think the second time around would be much different. I was wrong.
