TZIPORAH'S STILL A SIREN!

Some 27 years after she starred in his sensual film, Sirens, Tziporah Malkah still remembers director John Duigan’s one wish for his leading ladies: “Lots of personality!” And that’s something the model-actress has never lacked.

Playing the sultry Pru, Tziporah – then known as Kate Fischer – starred opposite Elle Macpherson and Portia de Rossi as muses for famed yet polarising Australian artist, Norman Lindsay.

The 1994 film told a fictionalised account of his fascinating life and the scandal surrounding his The Crucified Venus drawing, which at the time had conservatives up in arms.

With Sirens acquiring an all-new fan base following its addition to Netflix’s library earlier this year, Tziporah jumped at the chance to recreate the film’s iconic looks for New Idea. She reveals her sexy role was a moment in her career she will never forget.

“I always loved Norman Lindsay’s work and would frequent his gallery in the Blue Mountains quite a lot in my youth,” Tziporah recalls.

“My mother and stepfather had quite the collection of his art – I had loved him since I was a little girl reading his children’s book, The Magic Pudding, then admiring his naughty nudes in our home, to of course becoming one of his nudes in the film,” she says, laughing.

Tziporah was just 19 years old when she scored the role that would require her to strip off – something she never saw as an issue.
