Market influencers, stylists, brand consultants and visual merchandisers with very big dreams. Meet the beautiful and enchanting duo, Mitali Sagar and Summiyya Patni, both 27, from the House of MISU (MI-Mitali and SU-Summiyya)—a fashion consultancy company started by them in Mumbai. They have recently done the Summer Bride and RTW styling day at fashion designer Gaurav Gupta’s store, and have worked with international fashion labels like Estée Lauder, Juicy Couture, Le Mill, Christopher Kane, Celine, and the list goes on…

Let’s start with a brief intro. Tell us about your journey so far. We have been friends for nearly 20 years now and somehow always knew that we would work together in a creative space. We share a love for fashion and when push came to shove, it just made sense. We started out as stylists for the everyday woman and launched our own apparel label in 2011. We had immense success with it but the investment of time and money to pursue it didn’t hold much appeal for us given that we had bigger dreams for the brand. We soon began styling photo shoots for designers and covering them on social media. The next thing we know, we have become social media influencers and bloggers!
Have you studied anything related to fashion? What has inspired you to start the House of MISU?
MI has studied Apparel Merchandising and Fine Arts from the US while SU has a background in Political Science and Jewellery Design from India. SU has also been designing Indian clothes from the early age of 16 for friends and family. When MI returned from college, she worked at a PR firm for a year before doing the inevitable—starting House of MISU with SU, and the rest is history. Looking at the international standard of female influencers and bloggers has been an inspiration for us through this process, but we didn’t know we wanted to do this until it happened.
People tend to think that all that fashion stylists/consultants do is shop. What do you have to say about this misconception?
