Sigma 24 mm f/1.4 DG HSM | A Sujith Gopinath 75,900
Sigma seems to be busy adapting all their Art lenses to the Sony E-mount system. Licensing the mount design to third party lens manufacturers will ensure that the lack of lenses will no longer be a reason to reject Sony Alpha series of mirrorless full-frame cameras. The Sigma 24 mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens that we are testing here is the new Sony E-mount version of the same lens that was announced in 2015.
Design and Build Quality
All Sigma Art lenses provide a sturdy feel, and this lens is no exception. It is crafted beautifully in metal with polycarbonate exterior. A glossy back neck section adds a touch of premium feel to the usual matte finished black design. The focus ring and the adjoining area have grooves to provide extra grip. The lens has a focus selector switch, though it allows full-time manual override. The focus distance scale window provides a depth-of-field scale (calibrated for f/8 and f/16) in addition to displaying the distance in feet and metres. Sigma provides a petal-shaped lens hood with the lens. The lens is made in Japan.
