Five things we definitely know about Apple’s new flagship phone.

IT’LL BE HERE IN SEPTEMBER

OK, we said “definitely know”, but we cheated slightly. This isn’t set in stone, but it’s a no-brainer, surely? The iPhone 5 was released in September; the iPhone 5s was released in September; the iPhone 6 was released in September; and the iPhone 6s was released in September. So the smart money is on the new handset being released in September, too. A “reliable source” did suggest that the Cupertino brand might bring the iPhone 7 out earlier in the year than previous incarnations, but as we creep towards September, that seems less and less likely. (We did, of course, get a new iPhone back in March, but it was a smaller, cheaper edition.)

IT’LL COST THE SAME AS THE iPHONE 6s DOES NOW

The cost of a new iPhone generally follows the same convention every new model. If that’s the case this year, the iPhone 7 will cost around the same as the iPhone 6s does now (and the iPhone 6s will get a price decrease).

Following that logic, the iPhone 7 will cost around ₹60,000 for the cheapest option with the least memory, and go up to ₹80,000 for the top-spec model.

THE REAR CASE WILL BE SLEEKER

Whereas the iPhone 6s looked a lot like the iPhone 6, the iPhone 7 should be sporting a new design. Early rumours suggested that Apple will ditch the camera bump and antenna lines. This will make the rear casing completely smooth and uninterrupted, and that makes complete sense in our eyes.

It seems that the handset could lose a few pounds thanks to a new, slimmer LCD panel. What’s more, Apple is said to be shrinking some of the internal components to make room for a bigger battery. The most recent rumour is that they’ll drop the aluminium casing altogether, and go back to an all-glass shell similar to the one found on the iPhone 4, with a wraparound screen like the Samsung Galaxy S7.
