The magic starts at 3000rpm. I am a few seconds into the drive, the sun is yet to break through the night sky, and the flat-six purrs behind my left ear; she’s nibbling on it while a bit of warm air flows out of the aircon vent. It is cozy, I am in the mood now, as we enter into the first hairpin of our favourite driving road. The Cup 2 tyres are cold so I restrain myself, yet continue our date, taking it up a notch to 4500rpm. She’s in the mood too. I squeeze my right foot and the tachometer needle cuts past the GT4 RS lettering on the dial, hustling to an energizing 9000rpm. A lightning-quick gearshift gets her back to 5000rpm but just when you think she is enjoying the tease, she gives me another atmospheric redline shift. Gosh, the GT4 RS is such a magnificent sportscar!
The art of temptation
Day breaks a few corners up Lavasa’s hill climb. It highlights the imperfections on the tarmac that have risen exponentially over the last few years. I immediately back off the throttle because the GT4 RS is a racecar for the road, not some touring sportscar that can iron out the pits of agony that lay ahead without breaking something. It gives me the chance to stop and soak it all in, explore the GT4 RS in detail while my brain works out a plan to tackle the winding road that is far from perfect these days.
