Gray days give way to sunshine and, well, slush as April showers usher in spring. Make the most of these warmer days— and cleared trails, yes!—with a getaway that includes a running adventure.
Explore the Vasa: The Traverse City Trail Running Festival April 21–22 takes you through the Pere Marquette Forest on a variety of single-track and two-track trails. This east side Traverse City festival begins with a two-person 10K relay (each runner runs 5K) and free kids race on Friday evening, with the 10K, 25K, and 50K individual races underway Saturday morning. Post-race, kick back with a pint from Short’s Brewing Co. in front of the outdoor fireplace. Book lodging at the all-season Timber Ridge RV & Recreation Resort, where the festival starts and finishes. Runners receive 20 percent off any cabin or campsite during rental race weekend by calling the resort at 231.947.2770, ENDURANCEEVOLUTION.COM.
