The right-handed top-order batsman who co-owns FC Goa, one of the most consistent clubs at the Indian Super League (ISL), has never shied away from professing his love for football.
Despite being a sports icon for many across the globe, the cricketer who is currently helming the Indian team wants young footballers to strive and represent the national team.
In an exclusive interview with VIVA GOA, the Indian cricket captain speaks about his love for football, why he invested in FC Goa and his post-retirement plans.
How involved are you with FC Goa given your busy schedule?
I make it a point to keep myself abreast of what's happening at the club. And that goes beyond just the first team's performance. I have always been a big believer in creating an impact at the grassroots for any sport to do well. If the correct system is in place it will naturally benefit the development of the sport.
