Leave the city bustle behind and switch off at these idyllic countryside spots, where you’ll discover the secrets to a simple life...
WANDER INTO THE WOODS at Glenogle Farm
Escape the city’s busyness and venture into the countryside, where natural surrounds reflect a western setting. Book a stay at Glenogle Farm, hidden deep in the mountainous terrain of Magoebaskloof, and experience a unique farm stay.
SPACIOUS HAVEN You’ll have the option of checking into one of two luxury self-catering cottages – both are similarly stunning, but The Stables can accommodate a group of four, including children over the age of six. After opening large-feature double doors, you’ll enter the cottage’s beautifully appointed, open-plan living areas. Plus, as you walk across the creaking wooden floors, you’ll discover the vaulted ceiling overhead, as well as a glowing fireplace in the lounge. These amenities all point towards the pleasures of a comfortable life, and with the king-sized bed upstairs, there’s also the promise of an undisturbed sleep.
THE PINELANDS
The scent of wood is overwhelming as you set foot on Glenogle’s grounds. This privately owned farm is located on a pine plantation, and The Stables is positioned between the farm’s horse stables and paddock. Unleash your inner stable girl and help feed the three resident horses – Abby, Rain Forest, and Silva – during your stay. If you’re travelling with family, be sure to take the kids along to the stables, too, or pack your fishing rods and amble down to the nearby dam for a fun afternoon of catch-and-release trout fishing. The enveloping scenery is breathtaking – you won’t want to leave this slice of paradise any time soon. COST? From R1 950pn for four people in the self-catering Stables. Valid till 31 December 2019; glenogle.co.za
