2020 Free Agency Flashback
Dolphin Digest|March 2021
After reviewing the top pending free agents at every position, it’s important to understand that the Dolphins won’t be involved in the kind of shopping spree they had last offseason.

2020 Free Agency Flashback

That was a truly unique situation because the Dolphins found themselves with an unusual amount of cap space and a large number of needs, both the result of the massive rebuilding project the organization undertook during the 2019 offseason.

One year later, we can look back at the 2020 free-agent shopping spree and conclude that it overall was a success because it undeniably played a large part in the Dolphins being able to go from five to 10 victories and on the brink of a playoff spot in one year.

The Dolphins ended up signing 11 unrestricted free agents last offseason, matching their 2006 class for largest in team history.

But back in 2006, five of the 11 unrestricted free agent pick-ups didn't even make the initial 53-man roster. The biggest names that year were cornerbacks Will Allen and Andre' Goodman.

Every member of the 2020 free-agent class made the initial 53-man roster, though running back Jordan Howard was gone by the middle of the season after he put up disastrous numbers in his limited opportunities.

But the other 10 remain on the roster, though how many will be on the team in 2021 remains to be seen (as we’ll discuss later).

The best of the 2020 free agent class, at least after one season, clearly had to be defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah.
