Jamie Christian-Johal
How to be a GIANT

EVERYTHING about Jamie Christian-Johal is big. At 6-ft-5 inches, he’s much taller than the average man; at 300 pounds, he’s heavier than virtually anyone who has abs. Hell, even his surname is elongated. It’s no surprise; therefore, that Christian-Johal is known as the Giant. What distinguishes him from other giants in the bodybuilding world is how quickly he grew. Christian-Johal only burst on to the scene 18 months ago and won the British super heavyweight title in his first year in the 100-kg–plus division. Few guys ever get as big as him, but those who do usually take years to get there. If there is one thing Christian-Johal is well-qualified to talk about, it’s packing on mass fast, so we asked him for the five steps toward gigundo size.

GOAL

IN MY EXPERIENCE, the greatest results are achieved when a clear goal is set. It may be a target weight gain or loss, getting on stage for a competition, or shaping up in time for a holiday. Building muscle is not an easy task, so having a goal will keep you focused, on track, and serve as a constant reminder of why you are torturing yourself somewhat. Without a goal, it’s too easy to skip a day in the gym or to become another ‘I’m starting my diet on Monday’ guy.
