How “mental stubbornness” fuelled Brandon Curry’s road to fifth place in the 2018 Mr. Olympia.
IN 2015 AND 2016, BRANDON CURRY faced plenty of doubters. The Nashville, Tennessee, native competed in 17 IFBB Pro League contests over that span, winning just one, the 2017 Toronto Pro. Still, he finished outside the top 15 in both of those Mr. Olympias, a far cry from the promising eighth he snagged in his 2011 O debut.
Murmurs circulated that Curry should consider shedding some of his 255 contest pounds and try his hand at 212. So, when he came roaring back in 2017, winning three shows while taking eighth in the Olympia, then crashed the Olympia top five in 2018, the redemption story was nearly complete.
