An intelligent radio that makes programming easy
THE NEW SPEKTRUM IX12 TRANSMITTER is a perfect example of innovation and technological advancement. To start, this transmitter has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. It also has programming that’s easy to tap into—literally— with a touchscreen that is an Android-powered interface. The 4-inch touchscreen makes programming this radio a snap, with easy-to-understand menus that are simple to use. You can even download the user manual and read it right on the screen.
Wi-Fi connectivity keeps the iX12 current with automatic program updates, plus it allows you to download model setups and install third-party apps. Its Bluetooth connectivity allows the use of wireless earbuds, headset, and speakers. In addition, Bluetooth makes it easy to share files, like quad setups, from transmitter to transmitter.
Ergonomics
Of utmost importance is the feel of the transmitter in your hands. The iX12 is quite comfortable and easy to hold and operate. It has nonslip rubber grips, and both sticks are adjustable in stick length and travel range. The overall weight of this transmitter is just right, and it feels balanced when you’re holding it. Working my way around the iX12 is easy to do, and when you have to use it at all-day race events, you’ll find that it is an easy transmitter to hang on to.

Windracers Mail Delivery
With its partner Windracers Ltd., Royal Mail has become the first UK parcel carrier to deliver mail to a UK island in a 70-mile, beyond-line-of-sight, autonomous flight to the Scilly Isles. Tasked to better connect the islands’ remote communities, a consortium including Royal Mail, Windracers Ltd., DronePrep, University of Southampton, Excalibur Healthcare Services, and Consortiq Limited is funded by UK Research and Innovation.
Counting Penguins
Counting penguins is harder than it sounds. With freezing rain, snow, and chilling winds that limit the flight windows for the surveys, it takes scientists using three full days to map the location of 300,000 nesting pairs of Adélie penguins on Antarctica’s Cape Crozier.
