A price compensation scheme should gladden the hearts of the state’s vegetable farmers
There’s a spot of good cheer for vegetable farmers across Haryana. Start ing January, potato, tomato, onion and cauliflower growers will be assured of protection against distress selling of their perishable produce. The new Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana (price compensation scheme), launched by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and agriculture minister Om Prakash Dhankar in Karnal district’s Gangar village on December 30, is possibly the first attempt in the country to bring in a MSP (minimum support price) like regime for horticultural produce.
