In early December global ratings agency Fitch upgraded Italy’s long-term foreigncurrency issuer default rating to ‘BBB’, with a stable outlook, while forecasting economic growth of 6.2% for the country in 2021, faster than previously expected. The ratings agency also predicted 4.3% GDP growth in 2022, due in part to “strong carry-over effects after the re-opening of the economy in mid-2021”.
