More specifically, when it comes to actor Tobey Maguire’s personal life, for years the question had been: Is he the mellow family man who, with wife Jennifer Meyer, is a doting parent to their two young children? Or is he the bad boy obsessed with late-night, big-money gambling — and hitting the town as part of close pal Leo DiCaprio’s infamous “P***y Posse”?

The answer, it seems, was: both. But an insider claims that the Spider-Man star’s delicate balancing act between his two worlds was always “a thorn in Jennifer’s side” — and it finally became a deal-breaker for their nine-year marriage, with the couple announcing their split on Oct. 18. “If you’re a 41-year-old family man, like Tobey, at some point you have to grow out of the juvenile stuff that can cause friction in your home life,” the insider tells Star. “It seems to me that Tobey wasn’t able to accomplish that, and I believe his marriage has finally paid the price for it.”
