In the last six months, Nitish’s activities were proBJP and pro-RSS.
Did you anticipate Nitish Kumar’s move to break away?
We knew of his coordination with Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Arun Jaitley. On issues like the surgical strikes and the presidential election, he helped the BJP without consulting us. It became too apparent during the presidential election. Although 18 political parties had come together for Bihar’s daughter Meira Kumar, he supported the RSS man, even as we were fighting an ideological battle.
Was it also because of problems in the government?
My son Tejashwi Yadav, who was the deputy chief minister, was doing his work. Nitish felt threatened by his performance and efficiency. We never thought of replacing Nitish with Tejashwi. Instead of praising the boy for his good work, Nitish was trying to undermine him.
You have known Nitish for a long time, why did he do it?
