PHIL Parkinson’s Wrexham gave an early sign of their credentials for the new National League season with a thumping win at Tamworth.

PARKY LAUDS 5-STAR REDS!

The Red Dragons dominated proceedings from the off, taking the lead after just 22 seconds through Tyler French and never looking back.

Even the usual flurry of pre-season substitutions failed to knock them out of their stride as they put the home side to the sword in front of a crowd of more than 1,100 at The Lamb, many of whom had made the journey from Wales.

“I’m obviously pleased,” Parkinson said. “We looked dangerous and that’s really important. Goals breed confidence and that can only be a good thing but we were also pleased to keep a clean sheet as well. Defenders thrive off those.”
