Connacht Collared By Two-Try Halaholo

CONNACHT couldn’t hold on to a lead they reclaimed four minutes from time as Willis Halaholo ran in two tries to give Cardiff a first win of the season at the Sportsground.

Shane Delahunt’s try had given Connacht the lead in the closing stages, but after Halaholo’s second, replacement Jarrod Evans kicked the tough conversion to clinch the win for the visitors.

“It was always going to be ugly, but I think we teed it up with a good performance into the wind,” said Cardiff coach Danny Wilson.

“We got that right into the wind. They had a better second-half performance, but the character to score the try and kick the conversion to win the game was a  fantastic achievement and result for this group.”

In one of nine changes, Connacht handed a debut to out-half Andrew Deegan.
