Holidaymakers will endure chaotic conditions at UK airports all summer, Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary warns.

Passengers hoping long delays and flight cancellations will be over by July and August should brace themselves for a “less than satisfactory experience”.

And Mr O’Leary recommended flying mid-week instead of the weekend to beat the queues.

He said: “This problem is going to continue, particularly at airports like Heathrow and Gatwick, throughout the summer. It’ll be worse at weekends and better during the week.”

Staff shortages, despite airline bosses having had many months to recruit workers, are plaguing air traffic control, baggage handling and security.

Critics claim the industry sacked too many workers during lockdowns.
