Mirren,14 Is Hero Of Bus Blaze
A 14-YEAR-OLD schoolgirl has been hailed a hero after alerting a bus driver to a major fire.

Mirren Empson’s quick actions allowed the driver to get all 15 passengers to safety before the rear of the vehicle was engulfed in flames.

She smelled smoke as the First Bus was taking her to Dunfermline High School yesterday morning and ran to tell the driver.

When she returned to her seat, black smoke was pouring from the engine before an emergency evacuation of the terrified youngsters was carried out.

Orange flames leaped from the back of the bus in the village of Culross and smoke filled the sky in the 8am incident.

Mirren’s proud mum, Fiona, from Kincardine, Fife, told how the teenager’s quick thinking had possibly prevented a tragedy.
