NATIONAL HUNT racing finds itself at a crossroads today, with a fractiousness spilling out to near civil war following Robbie Dunne’s 18-month ban for the bullying and harassment of fellow jockey Bryony Frost.
The Professional Jockeys Association, who represent Frost, could rarely have been more disparaging of the hearing brought by the British Horseracing Authority and heard by an independent panel.
Taking particular umbrage to the BHA’s QC describing the weighing room culture as rancid, the PJA said in a statement: “We do not accept the panel’s findings in relation to the culture within and collective behaviour of the weighing room. It is a grossly inaccurate and wholly unfair representation and a conclusion we believe is at odds with the evidence presented.”
