FIANNA Fail TDs want Leo Varadkar to step aside while gardai investigate him.
But it has been left to the party’s youth wing Ogra to act as “a proxy” to formally call for the Tanaiste to stand down until the Garda inquiry is complete.
Detectives will want to interview the Fine Gael leader under caution to establish if a breach of the Official Secrets Act or the Criminal Justice (Corruption) Act has been committed.
That inquiry is linked to Mr Varadkar’s admission that he leaked a confidential €210million GP contract to a doctor pal in April 2019.
One Fianna Fail TD said: “You can view what they are saying as what a lot of the rest of us really think, but can’t say because of the marriage we’re in.
“It’s certainly damaging to Leo, and we shouldn’t be taking a hit for it.”
