People Run Out Of Food, Essentials

Locals in the violence-hit areas of north east Delhi are finding it difficult to procure essential commodities as the region remained in a complete lock-down for the fourth day on Wednesday due to the clashes that left 24 people dead and several hundreds injured.

“From last two days, we don’t have milk and bread at home. There are no vegetables to cook food and other basic things will also end soon. Somehow we are managing our meals, but we never know when these items will run out,” said Mamta Sood, a resident of Maujpur — the epicentre of the violence.

While visiting the affected areas of north east Delhi, MAIL TODAY found that only a single grocery shop was open on the main road between Seelampur and Maujpur.
