AN angry thug smashed his way into his ex-partner’s house and tried to stab her new boyfriend in front of her two children, a court heard.
Nathan Smith, 28, threw a brick through the front door and then kicked in the door of the children’s bedroom while armed with a kitchen knife.
He repeatedly lunged at the man – the blade missing his side by inches.
Smith, of Shrewsbury Road, Whitleigh, admitted threatening to kill his ex-partner and breaching a restraining order by going to her home in Kings Tamerton that night, but he denied aggravated burglary. However, a jury at Plymouth Crown Court unanimously found him guilty following a fourday trial.
He reacted angrily in the dock to the verdict, shouting and insulting the police civilian investigator.
Smith refused to go down to the cells, demanding to be sentenced straight away, before he was eventually taken away.
Supporters believed to be members of his family made rude remarks as the judge and barristers addressed the court.
