In May 2016, a few days after the announcement of the Assembly election results, the newly elected MLA S.M. Seenivel died even before taking oath as legislator. Bose won the subsequent byelection.
Bose, 68, had been unwell for the last few years, and was admitted to a private hospital on Wednesday. He died around 1 a.m. on Thursday, said V.V. Rajan Chellappa, Madurai North MLA and AIADMK Madurai rural district secretary.
Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and four other Ministers paid their respects to Bose at his home in Jeeva Nagar here. Mr. Palaniswami recalled that Bose remained a staunch loyalist ever since the AIADMK was founded by M.G. Ramachandran and earned the goodwill of the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa through his work for the party
