CJI cites change in members of Bench
Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi on Thursday assured petitioners that the Supreme Court would hear the pending review pleas against the December 14 judgment in the Rafale deal case, even as he observed that one difficulty in scheduling the hearing was the fact that the members of the Bench were sitting, as of now, in a different combination.
“We will do something about it,” Justice Gogoi told advocate Prashant Bhushan. “We are sitting in a different combination [of judges]. It is difficult to change it,” he added.
Mr. Bhushan had sought an urgent hearing on the review petitions and a plea seeking perjury proceedings against government officials who had “misled” the court, through unsigned confidential notes, about the facts in the case concerning the deal for the purchase of 36 Rafale jets.
