With this, the season’s total rainfall for this year has become 3,666 mm, the third-highest in the city’s recorded monsoon history. Several spots in the city received over 300mm in 24 hours till 8.30 am on Wednesday.
The highest seasonal (June 1to September 30) rainfall for the city was 3,759.7 mm, recorded in 1958. In 2019, the city received 3,670.4 mm, the second-highest. This year, with a week still to go for the monsoon to be officially over, the total is just 4.4 mm short of the record.
