Mumbai: The price of CNG, which has been hiked by Rs 12/kg in the past one week — the last hike was of Rs 7 on April 6 — will severely impact public transport, such as autos, taxis and buses, which depend on the green fuel. Taxi unions have already petitioned the government for an increase of Rs 5 in minimum fare (from Rs 25 to Rs 30) while auto unions are demanding a Rs 2hike in fares.
The price of piped gas has also gone up by Rs 9.50 per unit in a week (last hike was Rs 5 per unit on April 6) and will impact over 17 lakh households across MMR.
