On Saturday, 10,661 cases were registered in Mumbai as against 11,317 on Friday. On Sunday, the city is likely to cross the 10-lakh mark for Covid cases since the pandemic began in March 2020.
Like Mumbai, Maharashtra too witnessed a marginal drop in cases, with 42,462 registered as against 43,211 the previous day. The daily toll in Maharashtra rose to 23 from 19 on Friday.
However, a comparison of the week-on-week rise in Mumbai and Maharashtra tells a different story. While Mumbai saw 1,02,409 cases in the week between January 2 and January 8, the caseload dropped to 96,869 between January 9 and 15.
