As a child, Vedaant Madhavan's sporting inclination was towards taekwondo, in which he participated at the National level. But his interest in the martial art waned making way for swimming. The 16-year-old, son of acclaimed actor R Madhavan, has shown marked improvement since his initiation into the sport a little over four years ago. At the ongoing Danish Open in Copenhagen, he returned a gold and a silver in 800m and 1500m freestyle events respectively.
In the 800m freestyle event on Sunday night, Vedaant stopped the clock at 8:17.28 to shave off 11.48 seconds from his personal best. Earlier, en route to the 1500m silver, the youngster had clocked 15.57.86.
