Principals of several schools say that the spike in Covid-19 cases has largely not had any significant effect on attendance yet and they are ensuring that existing guidelines and protocols are being followed by students and teachers. Many also attributed it to the long weekend due to which schools were closed for four days.
Tania Joshi, principal of The Indian School, said, “Surprisingly, there has been no difference in attendance. I had expected it to drop. There was a little hue and cry when the cases began increasing. But parents know best and we are not forcing any child to attend school. In some schools there have been demands to begin online classes, but that won't happen at the moment. Let's see how the situation unfolds."
However, some schools said there was a dip in attendance with even one positive Covid-19 case being detected.
