Festivals are such fun events for kids, something they truly look forward to these days. I remember the excitement about colours and balloons on Holi, and the sweet and savoury treats my mum made during Diwali. I believe kids enjoy these festivals more than any of us, and this holds very true for my girls too. In fact, after becoming a mum, I started enjoying festivals even more. Experiencing the same energy and excitement of seeing colours, sweets, flowers and festivities for the first time. The butterflies in one’s tummy like something so good is about to happen, and the innocent simple pleasures of buying and wearing new clothes. Only now, it’s with two cute little mini-me’s running around with a twinkle in their eyes. I think there is something about adulthood that makes us lose the heart and soul of whatever we do. Children are pure. They know how to be present. They understand the true meaning of celebration. I guess they just naturally flaunt the connection between celebrations and engagement of receptive senses. They anticipate the fun. They enjoy the process. They love the preparation. They are not interested in the end result. The journey is always their destination.
